THE AGGRESSIVE STANCE // 3's ∙ 7's ∙ 8's
There are three basic "Centers of Intelligence" that allow us to interact with the world:
THINKING
FEELING
DOING
Each of the Enneagram Types put these centers into three categories:
DOMINANT (or PREFERRED)
SUPPORTING
REPRESSED
(It's like a three-layered cake! We have all three, but we each "layer" them differently.) Unfortunately, we tend to view life through our preferred "lense" and neglect the other two, causing us to miss out on developing the other two centers!
3's, 7's and 8's tend to be so focused on moving towards their future goals as quickly as possible that they don't see or feel what (or who) they're leaving in their "wake." They move towards/against by THINKING & DOING, not feeling. Therefore, they are "FEELING REPRESSED."
They are capable of being expressive as well as anyone else, but they have trouble having feelings, making it their repressed center.
3's - you take in feelings, but you don't use feelings to process the information.
7's - you have a half-range of feelings, tending to only want t be on the happy side, you don't use your full range of emotions to process.
8's - you're either passionate about doing something or you don't do it! Passion is not emotions! It's just ONE emotion, not a full range of emotions. These numbers have a few things in common including their orientation to time is the future and these aggressive numbers repress feelings and spend most of their days thinking & doing. Both of these characteristics explain why they are able to blow past the explosions in life without awareness of how they are hurting the people they love. These numbers tend to move against people, and you can hear them speaking up for themselves and their friends.
Unfortunately, Threes, Sevens, and Eights are deceived by the illusion of control. They reframe reality and meaning to align with their desire to be esteemed, safe, and in control. They tell the rest of us about times when they were influential in a meeting at work, or how they were successful in business. Sometimes we know they are not as influential, successful, or happy as they say they are, but don’t dare to tell them otherwise because of their aggressiveness.
So how do 3's, 7's and 8's develop their repressed feeling center?!!!
In this series, we will cover each of the numbers and go over growth points for each! Follow these links to continue our study and points of growth:
